Grilling fruit brings out its natural sweetness, caramelizing while the fruit softens. These grilled pears are perfectly caramelized from the grill and so delicious when freshly warm and soft. They’re grilled for just a few minutes on each side, then stuffed with a Wild Cherry oat mixture. The mixture is crumbly and sweet thanks to a little brown sugar and some nuts, too. Then, the stuffed pears are broiled for a few minutes to cook the flour and crisp up a bit.

While they’re great as is, you could even add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to balance out the sweet warmth of the pears. A drizzle of honey brings everything together, too. Butcher BBQ’s Wild Cherry Rub brings a little of that fruity, cherry flavor to the crumble. The cherry and pear flavor combination is perfectly balanced and just sweet enough! If you end up with any left over, try enjoying these grilled pears on top of a warm bowl of oatmeal.

Ingredients

  • 2 bartlett pears, halved and cored

  • Avocado oil or baking spray

  • ½ cup oats

  • ½ cup chopped nuts: cashews, walnuts, pecans, etc.

  • 1 tsp Wild Cherry Rub

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 3 tbsp melted butter

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • Honey or maple syrup, to serve

Directions

  1. Preheat the grill over medium high heat, approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Lightly grease pear halves with oil spray. When the grill is hot, place the pears cut-side down on the grill. Grill 3-4 minutes, then flip and grill another 3-4 minutes. Remove from the grill.

  3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the oats, chopped nuts, Wild Cherry Rub, brown sugar, butter, flour, and cinnamon.

  4. Place pear halves on a baking sheet and stuff the core with the oat mixture. Broil on low in the oven for 3-4 minutes, until the oat mixture is slightly crisp.

  5. Enjoy warm with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup!
