These Firecracker Chipotle Shrimp Lettuce wraps are a perfect star-of-the-show for your Fourth of July Celebration! They can be prepared ahead of time and then presented in a build-your-own bar for easy assembly when you’re ready to serve. A creamy drizzle of cool sour cream and sprinkle of crunchy green onions brings all the flavors and textures together. And go ahead and add another drizzle of Chipotle Grilling Sauce on top for even more spicy and savory taste! If you love a lot of heat, feel free to add extra cayenne to the shrimp marinade — Or you can omit it entirely for a more toned-down dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp onion powder

  • ¼ tsp chili powder

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper, or as desired

  • ¼ cup Chipotle Grilling Sauce, plus more to serve

  • 4-6 leaves lettuce - we used butter lettuce

  • Sour cream, to serve

  • Green onions, chopped, to serve

Directions

Place prepared shrimp in a medium bowl. Pour oil over shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Add garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and cayenne pepper, if desired. Toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for roughly 30 minutes, then preheat the grill to medium high heat.

Place the shrimp on a hot grill and cook 2-3 minutes per side, flipping often to cook evenly, until shrimp are cooked through to an internal temperature of 145 degrees fahrenheit.

Remove shrimp from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before basting with approximately ¼ cup Chipotle Grilling Sauce.

Assemble lettuce wraps by placing 3-4 shrimps in each lettuce leaf. Drizzle with sour cream, green onions, and extra Chipotle Grilling Sauce, as desired. Serve immediately.
