Smoked turkey tastes so astounding right off the bone, but making burgers is a delicious way to use turkey meat. Smoking the turkey burgers gives this recipe extra flavor, and the avocado jalapeno chutney provides the heat. Still, it's Butcher BBQ's award-winning seasonings that make this a terrific turkey recipe.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45-60 minutes

Smoker Temp: 375°F

Cook Temp: 165°F

Wood: Apple

Apple Smoked Turkey Burger Ingredients:

3 lbs Fresh Ground Turkey

1/2 Yellow Onion

2 Cloves Garlic

Avocado Jalapeno Chutney Ingredients:

1 Large Avocado

½ cup Tomato

½ cup Green Cilantro

1 Jalapeno

2 tsp Butcher BBQ Frontier Cabin Chili Mix

Juice of 1 Lemon

Salt to taste

I assembled these burgers the night before, allowing all the ingredients to emulsify. If time isn't an issue, this not only ensures a better taste but guarantees the turkey burgers hold together better.

Smoked Apple Turkey Burger Instructions:

Grab a sharp knife, a steady hand, and finely chop the onion and garlic. Place the ground turkey, onion, garlic, Butcher BBQ's Smoked Chipotle Seasoning, and Butcher BBQ Apple Orchard Sauce in a large bowl. Use clean hands to mix the ingredients well and form them into 6-8 patties.

Preheat your smoker to 375°F. Cook the turkey burgers until at least 165°F. The thickness of patties will dictate the time on the grill. 45-60 minutes. While checking periodically with a highly accurate thermometer like the Butcher BBQ Instant Read Digital Thermometer, mix up the avocado jalapeno chutney for our burgers.

Avocado Jalapeno Chutney Ingredients:

I love Indian cuisine for the flavor, the colors, and the heat. This simple Indian inspired burger topping is versatile and meets all the criteria my senses demand. The bright color and delicious sharp warmth make a spread fit for any meal.

Chop and combine all the ingredients in a food processor to blend. I used my good ol' mortar and pestle and got a solid forearm workout while fueling my nostrils with aromatic adrenaline. My spice of 2021 Butcher BBQ Frontier Cabin Chili Mix gives this traditional chutney recipe a smoky bite with a cocoa finish. In less than 5 minutes, you have the perfect spread for our burgers. Time to check on them!

Reminder; you must cook your burgers until they reach 165°F to avoid any issues. When ready, carefully pull off the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your apple smoked turkey burger on a bun, wrap, or mound of bacon. I ate my burger on top of another burger. You cannot go wrong any way you enjoy this recipe thanks to Butcher BBQ and just enough smoke.
