Juicy, savory, and perfectly salty, this maple herb grilled chicken is prime for the holiday season. Fresh herbs like rosemary are roughly chopped and added to an olive-oil based marinade. Fresh garlic and Butcher BBQ’s Maple Rub season the chicken, too. It’s simply marinated for 30 minutes then grilled to tender perfection on a nice, hot grill.

Along with poultry herbs, the Maple Rub brings forward fall flavors and goes great with other seasonal dishes, like grilled bread stuffing! Savory Pecan Seasoning would also be a nice taste of the holidays with this chicken. For a little extra maple sweetness, we recommend a drizzle of pure maple syrup to serve the chicken. It goes great with herbed mashed potatoes and grilled or sauteed vegetables, like squash. It’s also great for slicing into sandwiches. Enjoy this chicken for lunch, dinner, or even cold straight from the fridge!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 2 tsp Maple Rub

  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary, roughly chopped

  • 1 sprig fresh thyme, roughly chopped

  • 1 ½ lbs chicken breast

  • Optional: Pure maple syrup, to serve

Directions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic, Maple Rub, and chopped herbs. Place chicken breasts in bowl and toss to coat with the marinade. Let marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature.

  2. Preheat the grill to medium high heat, approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  3. When the grill is hot, remove chicken breasts from the marinade and place directly on the grill.

  4. Close the lid and grill for about 5 minutes, then flip the chicken breasts and grill for another 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your chicken breasts.

  5. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving with a drizzle of pure maple syrup on top, if desired.
