Barbecue sauce and beef are practically made for each other. These “sloppy joe-style” barbecue beef sandwiches are a great example of such. Ground beef is cooked in some Homestyle Sweet BBQ Sauce along with Premium Dry Rub for ultimate flavoring and a couple other ingredients to balance everything out. It’s quick and easy to make for a satisfying meal that the whole family will love. The nostalgic taste of the sweet bbq sauce and seasonings is a perfect comfort food! Rather than measuring out seasonings, it’s simple to throw in a spoonful of the Premium Dry Rub.

These bbq beef sandwiches are great for a night in or a rainy afternoon watching movies. There’s just something about that soft bun and warm juicy beef that’s so satisfying! You could also toast or grill the burger buns for added texture. Try these sandwiches alongside a loaded salad or grilled vegetables and potatoes for a nice complete meal. Feel free to enjoy the bbq beef mixture in cups of lettuce or spooned over rice if you want to mix things up beyond a plain burger bun.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium white onion, diced

2 tbsp ketchup

½ cup brown sugar

Burger buns, to serve

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.

  2. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook, breaking up the beef and stirring occasionally, until onions are tender and beef is browned, about 7-10 minutes.

  3. Add to the skillet the Homestyle Sweet BBQ Sauce, Premium Dry Rub, ketchup, and brown sugar. Stir to combine then let simmer for about 5 minutes, until the sauce is thickened.

  4. Serve barbecue beef hot and scooped in between two burger buns.
